Architect: Frank Matcham

Theatresearch undertook a 10 year programme of restoration and conservation works to this sensational Frank Matcham Theatre. This included the restoration of the iconic Rosary window, which is so much a feature of the auditorium ceiling. In addition to this we also undertook a full restoration of the original substage machinery, including the recreation of the extraordinary Corsican Trap.

All the work was carried out in phases, allowing the theatre to remain open for business, a key issue in so many projects.

Theatresearch provided:

  • Historic Theatre Consultancy
  • Conservation Management Plan
