Theatresearch undertook the Conservation Management Plan in order to understand this extremely complicated building which had been altered many times since its original construction in 1865. As a Grade II* listed building it was extremely important to respect the building’s heritage, whilst at the same time finding modern solutions to both audience comfort and accessibility. The creation of a masterplan enabled a planning strategy to be implemented which ultimately solved this difficult conundrum. Theatresearch was also involved in the design of all the technical equipment for the project, which included power flying systems and a new get-in lift.
